// why pixelworx

Why choose Pixelworx for brand identity & UI/UX design?

Most studios are either pure-creative or pure-engineering. We sit on the seam between the two — design that respects what production can and can't do, engineering that respects how design wants to feel.

06 reasons

Design and engineering, one studio

The same team that draws the comp ships the production code. No handoff theatre, no “that's not buildable” surprises six weeks in. Designs land in production looking like the file you signed off.

25+ years of branding work

Print, identity, packaging, advertising, and digital — across small businesses, regional brands, and enterprise rollouts. Brand systems that scale across mediums because we've shipped them on every medium.

Systems, not just screens

We deliver design tokens — color, type, spacing, motion — alongside the comps. Your team (or ours) can extend the system without it drifting six months later.

Accessibility by default

WCAG 2.1 AA contrast, focus states, motion-reduced fallbacks, semantic structure. Built in from the wireframe, not bolted on at QA — because retrofitting accessibility is the most expensive way to do it.

Direct creative ownership

You work with the designer who's making the work — not an account manager translating between you and a junior. Feedback rounds are fewer because the conversation isn't going through a relay.

You own the source files

Figma library, vector logos, fonts, type tokens, exported assets — all delivered to you. No locked-in subscriptions, no “contact us to retrieve your brand.”

Design questions we hear a lot.

06 questions
What does a brand identity project actually include? +
A complete brand identity project includes the logo system (primary, secondary, monochrome, lockups), color palette with accessibility-checked combinations, type system with weights and pairings, voice and tone guidelines, and applied examples across the mediums you'll actually use — letterhead, business cards, web, social, signage. You receive editable source files (Figma + Illustrator) and a brand guidelines document so any future designer or developer can extend the system correctly.
How long does a design project typically take? +
Timeline depends on what's actually in scope: deliverable count, the complexity of the system being built, how many revision rounds the brand or stakeholders need, whether copy and photography are ready or still in progress, and whether the work is print, digital, or both. A focused refresh moves quickly; a full brand system with applied examples across print and digital takes longer. UI design usually overlaps with engineering — design and development run in parallel until launch. We scope this clearly during discovery so you know what to expect, and we can typically ship faster than most clients can review.
Do you do print design, or just digital? +
Both. Most clients come to us for digital first, but a meaningful share of our work is print-and-physical: business collateral, packaging, signage, large-format event graphics, marketing collateral, and direct mail. Print is where Pixelworx started 25+ years ago, and we still treat it as a first-class medium — print-ready files, color-matched proofs, and pre-press experience that doesn't surprise the printer.
Can you redesign an existing brand without throwing it out? +
Yes — and that's often the right call. We do brand refreshes that modernize the system (typography, color, applied tone) while preserving the equity of the existing mark. The conversation usually starts with an audit: what's working, what's confusing, and what's actively hurting the brand. Sometimes the answer is a full rebuild; more often it's tightening the system you already have.
How does design handoff work if Pixelworx isn't building the site? +
We deliver Figma files structured for development — components, variants, tokens, and annotated states (hover, focus, error, empty). For teams using Tailwind, we also export design tokens directly into a `tailwind.config` snippet so your engineers don't have to translate values by hand. We're happy to do a kickoff call with your dev team and answer questions as they implement, billed against retainer or hourly.
How much does a design project cost? +
Cost is driven by scope, not a price list. A logo refresh sits in a different range than a full brand system across print and digital, and a web app UI sits in another range entirely. The factors that move a design budget — deliverable count, revision rounds, complexity of the system, whether copy or photography are in scope — vary enough that a published number wouldn't reflect your project. We scope after a 30-minute discovery call so you know what's involved before you commit to anything.
